This is a one-piece cleat that I chose to replace the more complicated barber-hauler on my Wayfarer spinnaker sheet/guy system, and I'm looking forward to having one fewer pieces of string to trip over. There are several cleats in the Clamcleat range which would do the same job, but I like the wide spacing of the screw holes on this one. The hard anodised versions of these cleats are designed to be harder wearing than the standard alloy ones, and there is (understandably) no nylon version of this type. The only drawback to these cleats is the slight tendency for lines to catch on the "hook" unexpectedly, but careful positioning of the cleat should minimise this. Lack of moving parts means reliability over time, and I've used various Clamcleats over a number of years and never had a failure.
